Cheerleaders energize the crowd during the homecoming game, bringing school spirit to the sidelines.

Few people from Cody were present, so the crowd was mostly Renaissance students. The game was met with much praise. Helen Nuñez, a ninth grader from Renaissance said, ”I felt pretty happy that we finally didn’t lose.”

This was a great lift-up for our Varsity boys since they lost to Cass Technical High School earlier this October by 56-0.

Damier Hardy, a freshman on the football team, stated, “Felt like we lost games we shouldn’t have ”.

Deonte Roston, a freshman on Varsity agreed, he says” There was excitement but we knew we had to improve and continue working to get ourselves to the state playoffs”. “Sophomore Dominick Yancy Jr” stated Jeffery Bonds motivated him to work harder during games as well as practices, and Keon Boone is an amazing role model for athletes, especially football players.

Dominick stated that Defensive tackles is his favorite position to play on the field. When the football team was asked if they believe the pep rally helped at all most of them replied with yes.

Food like hot dogs, nachos, and walking tacos were available for purchase. Homecoming tickets were sold on gofan.co for $6, or included in the student homecoming package which was $35.

At the game there were various clothing trends that could be seen. Lululemon define jackets, Ugg boots, Essentials hoodies, black leggings, and purple jeans, could be seen time and time again throughout the night.

Gianna Smith believes the popularity of these items stem from social media and the desire to fit in.

This game is the second-to-last of the season, with four wins and four losses. Hopefully, next week’s game against Southfield Arts & Tech will give the boys another win.

Prior to that game a parade was held to showcase the activities of Renaissance. Clubs like the Prancing Firettes, Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps, or JROTC, cheer, and etc performed skills that amazed the crowd.

Lourdes Leverette “It was good and entertaining with all the different clubs and activities.” When that was over all students went to the gym for the pep rally. During this pep rally, games were played such as musical chairs, red light-green light, etc.

There were attendance awards for kids who were on time and present for the count period. Things like iPads, PS5, and even AirPod Maxes. And rapper, Skilla Baby made a special

appearance.

The pep rally concluded the Renaissance’s homecoming Spirit Week. After school the Varsity football team had practice which consisted of warm ups such as individual skill sets, after a while they’d come together to go over the offense and defense game plan for the night.

During this time, Omar Manga states they ”locked in mentally” for the season. The team states there were overwhelming feelings of positive emotions, but the team hopes to play in the Detroit City Championship next year.pon billions upon billions upon billions upon billions upon billions.
